We will use your photos printed onto fabric & embellish using collage, appliqué, free machine & hand embroidery to create a beautiful, textured image.

Nature’s Landscape

Exploring nature as an inspiration to create a beautiful piece of work using hand stitching techniques.

It could be turning the traditional nature of “The Sampler” on its head by using hand embroidery stitches in a more contemporary way.

Or creating unique paperweights/decorations of “Moss growing on a Stone.

Landscapes, Plants and Flowers

During this course we will explore how to introduce plants and flowers into our work using hand and machine techniques, including free machine embroidery which is like drawing and painting but using the sewing machine!

Using my resources or your own photographs or pictures as inspiration, you will be guided to create a beautiful textile seascape using a range of fabrics, threads and embellishment. You will use machine felting and may also learn various hand and machine techniques.

SHADES OF COLOUR

A course focusing on small pieces of textile art using a variety of fabrics, threads, yarns and beads and a range of hand embroidery stitching techniques using shades of only 1 colour which you choose.

The end result is a beautiful, textured piece

Do you want to learn new creative skills? This is a course  which will guide you through the many creative aspects of free machine embroidery using a range of fabrics and threads and your own sewing machine.

This course is aimed at people who have already attended a Layered Landscape course as it provides the opportunity to extend and develop your skills to include more detail in your design and explore new techniques.

"Writing is a kind of textile art, word-weaving, stitching them into texts of subtle shades and textures" . During the day you can explore how to work some text special to you e.g. lists, a poem which could be your own, a quote or saying, names, an extract from a book, into a simple piece of work.

Dust off your sewing machine and learn how to use it with confidence. It may be you want to make items for around your home such as cushion covers, book covers etc or simple garments for yourself and your family.
